SOLAR ENERGY PROGRAMME :
In the year 1996, the Ramakrishna Mission Lokasiksha Parishad launched its Solar Energy Unit towards promotion and popularise different solar systems for domestic use. It has promoted the use of solar energy, the non-conventional form of energy in the rural non-electrified areas of West Bengal. It is recognised by Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources (MNES) of Govt. of India, West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency (WBREDA) of GoWB. The Solar Unit is instrumental in implementing non-subsidised solar home systems in non-electrified area of West Bengal. Different solar systems are sold from its Solar Unit “ADITYA” established in the premises of RKMLSP. The Unit also takes initiative to train the rural youth both male and female for repairing different systems.
