Samajsiksha has brought out its issue in April, 2016 on the occasion of its diamond jubilee.

Swami Lokeswarananda established Lokasiksha Parishad for the overall development of the rural areas. To make aware the rural people about the activities of the Parishad, it was decided to bring out a magazine named 'Lokasiksha Samachar'. The first issue was brought out in April 1957. The articles were mainly on the activities of different centres relating to mass education, different projects on education and multifarious information. Initially the magazine was confined to 20 (twenty) pages only. The cyclostyled magazine was distributed free of cost for the first two years. From June, 1959, the magazine was renamed as Samajsiksha and from that issue the magazine was a printed one instead of being cyclostyled.

Thus a novel magazine 'Samajsiksha' started its journey with a view to spread the development of the rural areas of West Bengal. From its third year of publication, the magazine was priced.

For the spread of literacy and post literacy programme, different lessons were published in the magazine. Such lessons were later brought out as books. The books are still very popular.

The magazine which started its journey as a cyclostyled one is now printed in off-set machine. With a view to make people self-confident and self-reliant the magazine began to publish different stories on the ideals of Sri Ramakrishna and Vivekananda, different constructive writing, stories etc. The writings are in simple language which made the magazine very popular.

The subscribers are from 17 districts of West Bengal, 11 (Eleven) states of India (Assam, Odisha, Delhi, Maharastra, Uttarpradesh, Madhyapradesh, Meghalaya, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram) and also from America, Canada, Russia and Japan.
