Swami Sarvalokananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur, Swami Stavapriyananda, Joint Director, Ramakrishna Mission Lokasiksha Parishad, Narendrapur visited Belpukur Jhankar Club, Hatinagar Vivekananda Pathachakra and Madhupur Karunamayee Seva Samity, the affiliated club organizations of the Lokasiksha Parishad at Berhampur of Murshidabad District on 7th and 8th July 2017. Monitoring rural development activities of those organisations and meeting with the club functionaries are the main objectives of the visit.

Publication of 3 new books on 9th July 2017, the sacred Vyasa Purnima or Guru Purnima tithi. Swami Sarvalokananda, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur formally published three books on the sacred Guru Purnima tithi (Vyasa Purnima) on 9th July 2017. The books were published by the Lokasiksha Parishad. The titles are:

  1. Amriter Utso Sandhane by Swami Bhuteshanandaji (compilation of his conversation by Smt. Manju Nandi Majumdar)

  2. Manobjibane Mandirer Prabhab by Swami Nityatmananda

  3. Bharatiya Adivasi O Lokasanskriti : Bartaman Prekshit – Edited by Prof Buddadev Chowdhury and Dr Shaktipada Halder.

A Plantation programme was initiated at Borsole village of Jhargram District to focus the total development of the community through conversation of wasteland into green land. The Parishad has developed 1000 hectares of wasteland with mango and cashew plants by involving 1000 resource poor tribal families. This year the Parishad has targeted 50 acres of wasteland of 50 tribal families for plantation and 450 acres orchard for plant maintenance purpose. On 12th July 2017 the plantation programme was initiated by Swami Deveswaranandaji Maharaj, Assistant Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur. Swami Harapriyanandaji Maharaj, Swami Suranathanandaji Maharaj and other senior staff members of the Lokasiksha Parishad were present along with the villagers during plantation.

After plantation the monks have visited the old plantation plots at Jamboni, Baksole and Borsole villages and Early Childhood Centres at Raniband and Turuband villages


  1. Two 10-day Chalaman Bahini Youth Leadership Training Programme, Sponsored by Ramakrishna Mission Lokasiksha Parishad, Narendrapur was organized at Vivekananda Lokasiksha Mandir, Muradpur, Purba Medinipur from 22.05.2017 to 31.05.2017 and at Sundarban Kalpataru, Kakdwip, South 24-Parganas from 12.06.2017 to 21.06.2017. 110 Organizations under 20 Clusters participated in the programme hailing from the district of West Midnapur, East Midnapur, South 24-Parganas, Burdwan, Purulia and Murshidabad. 110 nos. of trainees (Male 34, Female-76) participated in the programme. The training programme comprises of Bratachari, Folk Dance, Action song, Chalan Geeti, Chandamay Drill, Yogasan, Parade, P.T., Kho-kho, Lathi Khela etc.

  2. World Yoga Day was organized on 21st June, 2017 at Sundarban Kalpataru and children from the nine nursery school of Sundarban Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama and Youth Leader trainees of Chalaman Bahini participated on the occasion. The programme was sponsored by Chalaman Bahini Department under Ramakrishna Mission Lokasiksha Parishad, Narendrapur. The numbers of participants were 450 children and 45 trainees. The participants demonstrated Yogasana and Pranayama.

The vocational training unit of Lokasiksha Parishad has inaugurated it vocational courses on 19th April 2017 at Sarada Hall of the Ashrama by Swami Sarvalokanandaji Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur. Swami Deveswaranandaji Maharaj, Swami Stavapriyanandaji Maharaj and staff members of the Ashrama were present on that occasion.

The food processing unit of Lokasiksha Parishad was transferred from the old processing unit to the newly renovated Vijnanananda Bhavana on 30th April 2017 0n the sacred Shankara Jayanti Tithi. The unit was declared open by Swami Sarvalokanandaji Maharaj, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur in the presence of monks, brahmacharies and employees of Narendrapur.

The Integrated Child Development Services of Battala celebrated its 30th year on 21-23rd April 2017 at Hedua park of North Kolkata. The Celebration was inaugurated by Shri Sadhan Pande, Hon’ble Minister in charge of Self Help Group & Self Employment, Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of West Bengal and Swami Sarvalokanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Narendrapur jointly. On the eve of the Celebration a special exhibition was arranged on the life and teaching of Swami Vivekananda, where more than thousands peoples visit and enjoy the exhibitions enthusiastically. Dr. Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister in charge of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal, Swami Nittamuktanandaji Maharaj, Secretary, Ramakrishna Math, Mayer Bari, Bagbazar, Pabrajika Devaprana Mataji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Nivedita Vidyalaya, Bagbazar and other dignitaries were present in the occasion and delivered lectures on different topics. A large numbers of viewers from North and South Kolkata have enjoyed the exhibition and memorable devotional folk songs, dances, drama, the cultural events continued for 3 - 4 hours daily in the evening in the above mentioned dates.

The Ramakrishna Mission Lokasiksha Parishad has organized conference of Secretaries of youth organizations and conveners of Custer organization from 2-4th June 2017 at Sri Ma Sarada Hall of the Ashrama. Sharing experiences, exposed to new ideas of development in order to recharge their knowledge base in the main objectives of the conference which will help to take up next year planning and implementation of various rural development activities. This year the conference was inaugurated by Swami Suvirananda, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission and Ramakrishna Math, Belur Math, Howrah. Altogether 181 Secretaries, Assistant Secretaries, Conveners from 24 organizations in 10 different districts have participated enthusiastically. The main theme of the conference was "Sister Nivedita's idea in the light of Women education in Rural development".

VISIT to ANWESHA, SANTURI , Purulia and PRAYAS, Motgoda, Bankura by Revered Swami Sarvalokananda , Secretary RKM A, Narendrapur during 16-17 April 2017
A team led by Revered Swami Sarvalokananda, Secretary, RKMA, Narendrapur along with Swami Muktatmanandaji, Swami Ajitatmanandaji and Swami Stavapriyanandaji visited ANWESHA, Santuri, Purulia and PRAYAS, Motgoda, Bankura during 16 and 17 April 2017.

Revered Secretary Maharaj has laid the foundation stone for the proposed installation of a Deep tube well at SALBEDIA, Santuri, Purulia to be utilized by more than 150 tribal families for drinking water. He visited KUSUMDA village to observe the vegetable plots cultivated by the Green College Trainees. The small scale workshop for Chanachur production by the GREEN College trainees has also been visited by him. He also observed the Nursery and Demonstration plot at Anwesha, Santuri and visited the 24 decimal land adjacent to our Centre which is proposed to be purchased for sustainability of the centre. He also visited the Sanitation programme at Kalipahari, Lediam and Rangadanga of Santuri Block and Simulia and Bansrakuli Villages of Purulia I block.

In Bankura, Revered Maharaj paid a visit to the Early Child Education Centre at Katiam, Ranibandh Block dominated by the Shabar Community children. The WADI plantation programme (Mango and Cashew Orchard) sponsored by NABARD, Kolkata at Jambani and Biridanga of Binpur II block have been visited with great appreciation. Revered Maharaj has also visited the PRAYAS Centre, its Community College, Tasar Cultivation fields adjacent to the centre. The team met the trainees of the Community College on Sal leaf Plate making at Jambani village who have developed their business considerably. The visitors also have an hour long discussion with the women members of the WADI families at Jambani and Biridanga of Binpur II block, Paschim Midnapur.



Sri Sri Durga Astami Puja
Sri Sri Durga Asthami was observed on astami tithi, 28th September 2017 (Tuesday) at the Sri Ramakrishna Temple of the Ashrama. Nearly 3000 devotees took noon Prasad on that day.



Puja Dress and Shoes are given to the Early Childhood Education Children in the jangal mahal areas
During Sri Sri Durga Puja, Parishad distributed 1518 new cloths among 797 boys and 721 girls of Purulia, Bankura, Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Howrah, 24 Parganas and Murshidabad districts of West Bengal. Moreover, Parishad distributed shoes to 237 children (upto 6 years) of schools run by Joint Forest Management section.

Sri Sri Kali Puja

Sri Sri Kali puja is worshipped at Sri Ramakrishna Temple to the Ashrama this year on 19th October 2017. Nearly 2700 devotees partook Prasad on the next day afternoon i.e. on 20th October 2017.

Comprehensive Value Education Programme

Lokasiksha Parishad conducted Comprehensive Value Education Programme with the financial support of Donor Trust, Mumbai as the sponsorship of the programme was received through Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math. The main objective of the programme was to make the mothers and community members aware about safe drinking water, danger of open defecation, eradication of malnutrition and preparation of nutritious food and prenatal & postnatal care by mothers etc. The coverage details are:
